Matias Xavier Pena is a Rio Grande Valley native, born and raised on his family’s farm and ranch- Pena Farms in Edinburg.  Xavier and his wife Diana have been married for 25 years, and together they have 3 children- Brianna, Lorissa, and Marco.
Farming and ranching have been a part of Xavier’s life for many decades. For over 30 years, he has helped his father, Matias, with the farming of dryland crops. In addition to farming, Xavier has been breeding and raising Beefmaster Cattle for the past 30 years. Farming and ranching play a significant part of Xavier’s life, and they are traditions that he is passing down to his son Marco.
Xavier graduated from Texas A&I- Kingsville in 1991 with a B.S. in Agricultural Science. He then proceeded to obtain his M.S. in Agricultural Education from Texas A&M- Kingsville in 1994. After college, Xavier served as an Agricultural Science teacher for 4 years at the high school level. He then became an Insurance Agent with Texas Farm Bureau in Hidalgo County for 3 years. In 1999, Xavier had the opportunity to become an Exclusive Agency Owner with Allstate Insurance. Since then, Xavier has built a legacy serving his customers and the community with his agency for the past 20 years. Although an active business owner, Xavier still manages to continue the farming and ranching tradition with his father Matias and son Marco.
